El Capitan from Cathedral Beach, ©Rod BarbeeYosemite National Park is one of the most spectacular parks in the country. Here we’ll concentrate on creating landscape and close up images that you’ll be proud to hang on your wall.

Your instructors are two professional outdoor and nature photographers, both of whom have numerous publishing credits (including articles and books) and extensive teaching experience.

We'll meet on the evening of Monday the 18th for introduction, orientation and a bit of instruction that should help you get started. We'll then spend the next four days exploring the park Ansel Adams made famous. We'll visit such places as Cathedral Rocks, Tunnel View, Half Dome, Swinging Bridge, Yosemite Falls, and Fern Spring, just to name a few.
Here we'll be able to help you master landscape techniques like hyperfocal focusing. We'll also help you with setting up for multi-image panoramas as well as making separate exposures of scenes for later blending in Photoshop (sometimes called the digital graduated ND filter technique).

Flowers should be plentiful and we'll help you further your close up photography skills by demonstrating techniques and some specialized equipment.

Fern Spring, ©Rod BarbeeOur goal is to help you create photographs that are uniquely your own and to help you develop your own style. To that end, we’ll be encouraging you to stretch beyond what you’re used to doing and to look for perspectives, angles and compositions that are expressions of your own view of the world.

Since there are so many opportunities and so many great scenes with easy access, this workshop won’t involve much hiking. But never fear, we’ll employ other means to exhaust you.

Since this is a Field Workshop, most of our teaching will be done in the field, and we may not be spending much time in the classroom. Besides, if conditions are great we'll definitely want to be out photographing as much as we can. We will, however be getting together at least once for image sharing and critiques. If time allows we'll also
