Maple trees, family farms, and cows

I’ve been to Vermont a few times now. Every time it’s been to co-lead a photo workshop with my friend David Middleton. And I’ve had a few chances to get out and photograph too. What strikes me about Vermont compared to where I live on the west coast is the age of things. Cemeteries contain veterans from the Revolution. Some homes and churches are well over 200 years old. You can find rock walls of indeterminate age. And of course, there’s all that color in autumn. I’ve been lucky a few times to hit it just right. More often than not we seem to be a week early or a week late. That’s nature photography for you though.
