News from Rod Barbee Photography
October 2017

Greetings,

Hi everybody. I’ve been busy with getting caught up with things after my recent aurora trip, setting up the next aurora trip, setting up an Iceland trip, and racing the season to get our fence re-stained and our lawn over-seeded. So this newsletter will necessarily be a bit light.

2018 Aurora Photo Tour

My 2018 Aurora Photo Tour to Yellowknife is all set. Next year I’ll be leading this trip with John Barclay. John tells me that he has quite a few people “chomping at the bit” to register for this trip. Since we’re limiting this trip to 10 participants, we’re pretty confident that it will sell out, possibly quickly.
General registration will be opening this Friday on my workshops site so I wanted to give you, my valued newsletter subscribers, a heads up.

Some of you had already told me you were interested in this trip, you should have already received an email about this. If you haven’t check your spam folder.

As I said, we think this trip will sell out quickly. So if you’re seriously interested, be sure send me an email or respond to this email and I’ll send you a reminder email before the registration opens.

This year's trip was great, we got an aurora storm on the very first night. And we saw auroras on all but one night of our time in Yellowknife. Read more about the trip on my blog.

Matt Kloskowski’s Lightroom course

Matt Kloskowski has release a new course on using Lightroom.
I co-led a workshop with Matt years ago and he certainly knows his Lightroom stuff. Since then he seems to have become a respected expert in Lightroom and in teaching Lightroom.

I've not seen the course, but Matt's got a pretty good reputation and I'm guessing this course is pretty good, so I wanted to pass this along.

For a very limited time (like less than 16 hours as I'm writing this), you can get this course for 50% off. If you do get it, let me know what you think of it.

I've got no affiliation with Matt. Heck, he probably doesn't even remember me. But I thought this might be a valuable resource for some of you.

Palouse 2018

Just to let you know that registration is open for my 2018 Palouse workshop (June 20-24). This trip often sells out too, but right now there's still plenty of room.

Upcoming trips

In the next couple of weeks I'm planning on getting my 2018 Iceland and Olympic National Park trips posted.
Iceland will be in late September into early October of 2018 and Olympic will be in May. I may also add a July Olympic trip. So stay tuned for that.

I'm still up in the air about the Columbia River Gorge waterfalls workshop. As you may know, there was a devastating fire last month in the Columbia Gorge. The workshop is still open for registration but there is a chance it will be cancelled. I may instead schedule a waterfalls workshop to Silver Falls State Park near Salem, OR instead. Let me know if this might interest you.

And Don Mammoser and I are contemplating a workshop in Zion National Park for late October/early November of 2018. Again, let me know if you're interested.

Family portrait

And finally, here's a little family portrait I photographed on my recent trip to Yellowknife.
On the trail to Cameron Falls there's an area where people have built stone figures know as Inukshuk. Here there were two human figures and I added a dog.

So that's it for this month. Told you it was light. Please do let me know if you're interested in any of the trips I mentioned, especially next year's aurora trip. That one is probably going to sell out quickly.
I really despise high-pressure sales techniques, but in this case, I really believe the window of opportunity will be narrow.

Ok, back to staining the fence....;
