Occasionally I lead photo tours for small groups of up to seven. These “semi-private” tours are designed to be low on cost and high on fun and photography. I take these small groups to areas I know well, and because these are smaller groups we tend to not get in each other’s way while shooting and I am more able to give more personalized help in the field. The smaller group size also allows for more flexibility, spontaneity, and camaraderie.

There are a couple of differences between this kind of tour and the workshops I normally do. For one, I’ll be shooting too. But make no mistake, I’m there first and foremost to help you and will always be available.

The other difference is that there will be no formal classroom instruction; all teaching will be done in the field. We will however take time to gather around laptops for informal image sharing and discussion during mid-day breaks.

A trip like this is a great way to travel with a small group, make new friends, learn some new things, and do a lot of photography for a very economical price. 

The tour fee is $550 per person for a five-day tour (begins on the afternoon or evening of the first day and ends on the morning of the last day). A deposit of $200 is required to hold a space. Please read my policies page for payment and cancellation information before sending any money. I highly recommend trip insurance as I won’t be able to make any refunds on last minute cancellations unless I can fill the space reserved for the trip. 

I’ll make group lodging arrangements and you’ll pay for your own room upon arrival. Depending on the individual hotel policies you may be required to call in and guarantee your room with a credit card. Hotel costs are usually in the $80-100/night range. 

As usual, lodging, transportation and meals are not included in the tour fee. I can help facilitate car sharing or roommating (is that a word?) for those who wish to share. Or mate. Whatever.

These tours can fill rather quickly so please contact me by phone or e-mail to verify space prior to sending any payment. As these trips are so economically priced, I’ll need a minimum to make a tour a go. This minimum will be based on the specific location but will be no less than four.
