How many times have you gone to a Lightroom or digital workflow lecture and taken careful notes only to get home and have very little or none of it make sense? Why is that? Because you've not actually used any of what was taught. This is the second of our two Palouse workshops (you can attend either or both) and is designed for you to use what you learn right away. Over and over again until things become as familiar as setting the aperture on your camera.
An efficient workflow saves time at the computer and means more time shooting in the field. In this workshop we’ll spend time learning to streamline your workflow using Adobe’s Lightroom 3. This powerful tool makes it a breeze to organize, edit and output your images.
For this second workshop (or, part two, if you prefer) we’ll be spending probably seven hours (or maybe more) each full day (June 21 and 22) in the classroom. We will get out for some shooting to collect raw material to work with (those who weren't at the first workshop will appreciate this). This workshop will be a combination of lectures in the first part of the day, with the second half reserved for hands on time for participants with Victoria and Rod there to help, answer questions and to demonstrate features or techniques. Besides Lightroom/Photoshop we'll probably show you things with Nik's HDR Efex Pro and Color Efex Pro.You will need to have your laptop with Lightroom 3.x or 4.x loaded.
We’ll cover the various modules in Lightroom with lectures and hands-on time working with your new images. The purpose is to develop and implement a clear concise workflow that you can take home with you. We’ll cover key aspects of the Library and Develop modules, moving you forward to a finished product that you can then export using the Print, Slideshow, or Web modules. In fact, this page you're reading was created entirely within the Lightroom Web Module using a plug-in from The Turning Gate.
We've planned both morning and afternoon Digital Workflow sessions, separated by a lunch break, so that we'll have plenty of time in the classroom for you to really practice what you've learned and for us to be able to give you one on one help. Victoria has created a rather comprehensive handbook, which you’ll receive at the second workshop. This way you won't have to be franticly scribbling notes as we go. And if you don’t already own any of the NIK software we’ll be demonstrating, we encourage you to download the trials of the Nik software either at the workshop or prior to coming. If you want to purchase and NIK software, use the discount code RBARBEE at checkout for 15% off any individual product.

What a typical day might look like:
Mornings come early this time of year so we'll be leaving before dawn to catch the first light on rolling hills. After our morning shoot we'll return to our hotel, probably before most people are getting up, for a quick break and then go right into the classroom for lecture. After lunch we'll gather in the classroom again for hands-on practice and more lectures. After dinner we may head out for a late afternoon or sunset, depending on group energy levels.

Hiking and exertion:
There will be virtually no exertion involved other than getting up at an unholy hour of the morning for sunrise shoots. Most of the time we'll be within spittin' distance of the cars (this is farm country; they say "spittin' distance" here).
