Yikes

Holy crap! Look what Bailey and I saw on one of our walks (April 7, 2012).

We first saw a deer, so I put Bailey back on her leash so she wouldn't chase it. Walking only a small distance farther, I noticed a shape by the side of the road. At first I thought it might be a fawn. But no. As soon as I saw what it really was I took this picture. Then we started to back off.

As soon as we took the first step back, the cougar got up and came toward us. I was able to scare it off by making a lot of very manly noises (not at all high pitched or panicky), waving my arms, and throwing a rock. The cougar went into the woods to the left but was still coming toward us so I threw another rock and it finally went deeper into the woods, probably to resume the deer hunt that we interrupted.

This is very near the place that we saw a black bear just three days before.
